From Mom Groups to Veterans, Microdosing Gains Popularity
There’s no question that magic mushrooms and their psychedelic properties have been the talk of the town recently in Colorado. This past November, Coloradans voted in favor of Prop 122, a ballot measure that has made it legal for people over the age of 21 to possess and use magic mushrooms and psychedelics. A once-taboo topic, psilocybin is now gaining popularity as a potential pathway to healing.
And it’s not just hippies looking to get high.
Veterans and the military are seeking options for relief from PTSD through the benefits of magic mushrooms and other psychedelic plants.
Recent news articles from Forbes and a report in The New York Times indicate that the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has launched at least five clinical trials “to study the effectiveness of psychedelic drugs as a treatment for military veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder, addiction, and other serious mental health issues.”
All it takes is one search on Google or Instagram to find that even Moms want in on the mushroom action. With support groups, the mom community is turning to microdosing psilocybin to help with depression, anxiety, and the stress related to raising children.
One Colorado-based group called M.O.M., aka Moms on Mushrooms, believes in “bringing moms together through the sacred use of plant medicine.” And the popularity is spreading like wildfire on social media, with some communities already reaching thousands upon thousands of fans and followers.
Nick French, Founder of Milagro Mushrooms, validates the recent attention and wonderment of psilocybin:
“Once someone discovers the benefits of plant-based psychedelics, old-fashioned stigmas disappear. Through a holistic approach, the goal is to treat the whole person versus the symptom with psilocybin properties. I know first-hand what it’s like to live through extreme depression, and I wholeheartedly believe in the power of mushrooms – that’s why I started Milagro Mushrooms – to serve as a beacon for someone seeking help.”
There isn’t a known statistic yet regarding the exact number of people who microdose psilocybin. But now that it is legal in Colorado and Oregon and with its now known potential to serve as a medicine as nature intended, magic mushrooms will surely be on the rise. Indigenous cultures in history have records of the healing properties of mushrooms; only time will tell when it becomes even more mainstream.
Until then, Milagro Mushrooms will continue to serve as a trusted source for mushrooms and psilocybin-administered needs.
